About Jeannine
Jeannine Raymond, Ph.D., is a celebrated native California author, renowned for her illuminating works on Fresno's history. Born and raised in Los Angeles, she now resides in Fresno, where her first award-winning book, Fresno’s Wilson Island and Rosanna Cooper Wilson, the Woman Behind It, was inspired by her curiosity in local history. Her expertise in Fresno's history, showcased in popular presentations like “Fresno History Hiding in Plain Sight,” has gained over 13k views on YouTube.
Her latest book, Ernestine Winchell and the Pioneer Women of Fresno County, California, continues her exploration of the rich history of the San Joaquin Valley. Seeking original documents, photos, and stories has brought her in contact with octogenarians, one generation removed from the Fresno of the late 1800s, who have graciously shared what they know.
When she is not buried in archives or writing stories, Jeannine is in one of her other spaces for creative expression, her garden, beading, knitting, or weaving. She is a certified University of California Master Gardener who likes to experiment, design, and work with nature in the many micro-climates of the half acre she tends. When the heat is too extreme to be outside, she may be writing, traveling with her husband, or spending time with their son and friends.
